Stand Up To Cancer, Tennessee!
There’s a new movement, called Stand Up 2 Cancer, that has been launched to end cancer once and for all. It brings together folks from many walks of life, from the entertainment industry to scientists on the front lines of discovery. The movement is raising money for research, much needed in these days of dwindling research support from the federal government — at the very time when so much potential exists to make even greater strides against this disease.
Nowhere is the need to STAND UP TO CANCER more important than right here in Tennessee and the Southeast, where we face the highest death rates from cancer of any in the nation. We lose one of our neighbors to cancer EVERY HOUR.
Stand Up 2 Cancer is just starting to gain the nation’s attention, with a web site at www.standup2cancer.org, a national advertising campaign, and an unprecedented hour-long television special to be simulcast live on all three major networks, CBS, NBC and ABC, on September 5 (airing 7 p.m.-8 p.m. Central Daylight Time).
